I know the air is not great but the NOAA "Hazardous Weather" alert, at least for Mamaroneck, seems to be for lightning:

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly cloudy, with a high around 83. Southeast wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy dense fog after 9pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 69. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."
